Before joining LASCO, Mellicent interned with Congressman Tim Ryan during her undergraduate years and later worked as an extern at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) in the summer after her first year of law school. 

From the fall of her first year through to her graduation, Mellicent served as a law clerk at Zeidan & Associates, a small Columbus immigration law firm, where she gained hands-on experience in immigration law and advocacy. Mellicent also dedicated her time to several volunteer efforts, including with YSUscape, Cityscape, Success After 6, and Mats for Mahoning during her college years. In law school, she volunteered with the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF), further demonstrating her commitment to public service.
