training pro bono attorneys for LASCO cases. Melissa also directly represents clients in filing Chapter 7 bankruptcies, foreclosure defense, debt collection defense, and other bankruptcy matters. She also coordinates the LASCO “Bypass Clinic”–a clinic for elderly and disabled clients who are being threatened with collection calls. While providing relatively simple legal advice and counsel at this clinic, she especially enjoys providing significant relief in the lives of clients and seeing immediate, positive effects. Her work with bankruptcy cases is especially fulfilling for Melissa because the bankruptcy process is one full of complications that most clients struggle to successfully navigate without the service of an experienced attorney. Helping these clients achieve the successful outcomes that they need is one of the strongest motivating factors for Melissa in her work with LASCO.
