Mary L. Kovalesky works as a staff attorney in the Steubenville office and is the co-leader of the Public Benefits Team. Mary joined Legal Aid in September 2018 and has been involved with both the Public Benefits and Education Teams. Like most attorneys in LASCO's rural counties, she is a generalist and has represented clients in administrative proceedings and in court cases in all five counties covered by the Steubenville office. Mary has spent much of her career practicing in public interest law, and she is grateful for the opportunity to represent individuals and serve in the communities where she was raised.

Mary is a native of Jefferson County, Ohio, and graduated from Edison High School in 1999. Thereafter, she obtained her undergraduate and law degrees at two public universities in Ohio. After law school, she lived in Kentucky for almost nine years and clerked for two Federal Magistrate Judges in the Eastern District of Kentucky. She also worked for two private law firms in Kentucky.
Mary now lives in Mingo Junction, Ohio (Jefferson County) with her dog, Roger. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Urban Mission in Steubenville.
