Jyoshu Tsushima has been a staff attorney with the housing team at LASCO since December of 2016. Every morning, he partners with volunteers and pro bono attorneys through the Tenant Advocacy Project (TAP), located at the Franklin County Municipal Court, to provide brief advice or limited representation to tenants facing evictions. Jyoshu is dedicated to improving local communities through educating tenants on how to navigate landlord-tenant law, studying the impact of evictions on urban development, and understanding poverty in relation to housing. Before becoming a staff member, Jyoshu volunteered with LASCO (then LASC) where he assisted tenants with recovering wrongfully withheld security deposits, resolving evictions, and addressing other housing issues, leading him to dedicate over 2000 pro bono hours to LASCO in 2016.
