Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio (formerly Legal Aid Society of Columbus and Southeastern Ohio Legal Services) is a nonprofit law firm that provides civil legal services to low-income clients in a 36-county region. We cannot do this work alone. The justice gap in our community is growing, and to meet the need, we are thrilled to launch the “25-in-'25" Pro Bono Challenge in Central Ohio. Our goal is simple: increase pro bono participation and support for LASCO programs so that more people receive life-changing legal help.
“Legal Aid Champions” are firms that publicly commit to join the 25-in-25 challenge. Once a firm commits, then lawyers and paralegals from "Legal Aid Champion” firms can voluntarily pledge to do 25 hours of pro bono work for LASCO in 2025 and compete in the Challenge.
Each attorney and paralegal who pledges 25 hours will be asked to complete their goal by the end of October 2025. LASCO will track when firm team members reach their 25-hour goal.
Winners will be announced during Pro Bono Celebration Week 2025. The winning firm/group will have engaged the highest percentage of attorneys or paralegals from their firm or group and have successfully met their 25-hour goal. By focusing on the percentage of your firm successfully engaged rather than on total pro bono hours or attorneys, we hope to inspire firms and groups of all sizes to participate. We will also have a special “Solo Hero” recognition for sole practitioners who donate 25 hours!
Are you ready to accept the challenge and become a “Legal Aid Champion”? Simply email probono@lasco.org. All we need from you is your total number of lawyers and paralegals in Central Ohio and your commitment to promoting the challenge within your firm.
Once you commit, we will add your firm to our Pledge Form, and individuals can pledge here. If you would prefer to compile your own list, email it to us at probono@lasco.org.
